Personality strong and decisive,
soft and rigorous.

Barolo is a great Italian wine obtained exclusively from the Nebbiolo grapes.

It is produced in 11 municipalities of Piedmont: Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba, La Morra, Monforte d'Alba, Roddi, Verduno, Cherasco, Diano d'Alba, Novello and Grinzane Cavour on a surface of about 2000 hectares. It began to produce in the mid-nineteenth century. It must be aged minimum three years, of which at least one and a half in oak wood, and only after five years can be called "Reserve."

Barolo is the focal point of the Livia Fontana winery. Loved and appreciated throughout the era of the nobility, Barolo has always been considered the “wine of kings and king of wines” and owes its unique personality above all to the characteristics of the earth of the Langhe which is rich in clay, limestone and minerals. According to the abundance of one or more types of minerals, the clusters of nebbiolo grapes are transformed into wines of strong personality, decisive yet supple, with rigorous aromas and irresistible colors. Barolo is made in the vineyard and one of the things that determines the success of Livia Fontana wines is the care we give our vines.

The subsequent harvesting by hand is another means to obtain healthy ripe grapes which are immediately brought to the winery for maceration on the skins and fermentation in stainless steel temperature-controlled tanks. The wine is then removed, analyzed, transferred to large wooden casks, and racked to remove sediment. Only after a maturation period of four or five years in the cellar, does the wine acquire those characteristics that transform the clusters of grapes into precious Barolo.
